We were traveling to Duluth to spend spring break with Papa and knew we would get to see the St Mathais organ being built at the Jaeckel Organ studio. Prior to the trip we did a bunch of research on how organs are built and listened to organ music.
We watched the Discovery Channel's show How it's Made on Pipe Organs:
We interviewed the organist at First Pres
Pipes at the front of the church
And finally seeing the organ:
standing in the 2-story studio that holds the framework of the organ
pipes
watching how they get made and how they are then tuned
seeing the actual wood tracker
and how the tracker action works
more pipes
looking at pipe simulator
Then we got to hear a Jaeckel Organ concert at First Lutheran Church, Duluth
And Morgan sat through not one but TWO full requiem masses. One of which being John Rutter's Requiem. If you fast forward to 1:44 you start the Requien Aeternam which is more recognizable that the beginning aeternam then the Kyrie at the end is also very well know.
